Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate social responsibility and Community Engagement is core to our business.
Through community engagement, sustainability, diversity & inclusion, responsible sourcing and long-term thinking we can actively contribute to and support the well-being of local and national communities through various initiatives and volunteer efforts. These values guide our company in its efforts to make a positive impact on society and the environment while conducting its business operations.
Education
For the past 3 years Denvalco has been supporting primary school's enterprise element of the curriculum working with 2B Enterprising and their Bumble Bees of Honeywood program. To date we have sponsored 5 schools, supporting over 200 children.
During the sessions our staff get to engage with the youngest, most impressionable members of our communities to develop their teamwork, communication and other key skills required for work and personal life. Our future employees, leaders and entrepreneurs are among these primary school children, so we take great pride in helping develop these skills and assist local schools whilst also introducing these children to potential role models they may not have had the opportunity to meet outside the school environment.
In addition to visiting these schools Denvalco offer a follow up opportunity to take a tour of our factory, where the children can meet more members of the teams and learn about the potential career opportunities the Construction Industry Offers. The children get to experience how our design team develop working drawings using software programs and they get to assist in the practical fabrication of a window.
If you have a project that you would like our support on with bringing a local school to our factory please get in touch with our Social Value Manager Kate Rees.
We have also expanded our programme to include high schools, working alongside Careers Wales to provide students with insight into potential career pathways after school. We recently welcomed students from St Teilo's Church in Wales High School to our factory and are pleased to have many more high school visits planned throughout the year ahead.
Apprenticeships
In-House Apprenticeship Scheme
Denvalco have created our own in-house apprenticeship scheme which is run alongside an NVQ Level 2. This allows learners to enhance their knowledge with industry specific processes whilst still obtaining key skills taught in the NVQ. Due to this being in-house and run with a training centre dedicated to Construction training, apprentices can enrol at any time of the year — not just in the usual term intake months.
Supporting Under-Represented People
We have teamed up with the job centre to work with under-represented people in our community who require assistance with getting into work, whether this be someone with disabilities or an ex-offender. We have multiple opportunities throughout our organisation.
The Prince's Trust
Last year our HR and Site team attended The Prince's Trust presentation event for the young people who had successfully passed their CSCS test among other qualifications. On the back of that we interviewed and employed 3 of those young people, who will benefit from further training and the opportunity to join our in-house apprenticeship scheme.
Volunteering
The staff at Denvalco partake in several volunteering projects run in local communities throughout the year.
Rumney Forum
We have supported the renovation of our local resident led community charity, Rumney Forum, where we assisted with the initial clear-up operation as well as supplying and fitting replacement glass for the existing broken windows.
Fare Share Cymru
We volunteer at Fare Share Cymru to support the warehouse operations and delivery drivers to package and deliver vital food boxes to local community hubs.
Splott Community Hub
We volunteer weekly at the Splott Community Hub in their kitchen and pantry, serving the local community with reduced priced goods and a healthy meal and chat. We even bring the kids along during their half term holidays who love getting involved with the organisation's volunteer activities.
Grangetown Boys & Girls Club
Denvalco have recently assisted Wates in the renovation of the Grangetown Boys and Girls Club by replacing the windows that were damaged and unusable.
Community Litter Picks
We regularly take part in community litter picks in the areas surrounding the residential projects we are working on.
Tree Planting
We support our local communities through annual tree planting initiatives, helping to create greener spaces and a more sustainable future for generations to come.
Cardiff Foodbank
We have worked alongside Cardiff Foodbank through volunteering initiatives in local supermarkets, helping to collect essential donations for individuals and families within our community.
Charity Support
Supporting charities and giving back to the community is something that means a great deal to us at Denvalco, as well as across the wider V3 Group. We are passionate about making a positive difference and regularly take part in fundraising initiatives, volunteering opportunities and community events throughout the year.
We are proud to have supported organisations including Action for Children, The Huggard Centre and Llamau through a variety of in-house fundraising events such as Sleep On It, Row 4 24, and V3 40. Alongside these initiatives, our team also participates in charity-led events and activities including Bubble Rush, seasonal gift-giving campaigns and Christmas present wrapping to help support vulnerable individuals and families within our communities.
By working together, we aim to continue supporting charities that provide vital services and make a lasting impact across South Wales and beyond.
